Regency octagonal tortoiseshell pagoda top tea caddy
A rare Regency period octagonal tortoiseshell tea caddy with pagoda top, raised on turned ivory feet. This caddy is in unrestored condition with various blemishes and a few old repairs. The caddy retains its original hinges & escutcheon, pewter stringing between the tortoiseshell panels The interior, which has traces of the original zinc lining, has an inner lid with an ivory knob, original red velvet lined lid. The base has the original paper lined bottom with ivory faced edge and stands on four ivory feet. Circa 1825, it measures 12 cm across and stands 15cm high.
