Decorative Fair April 2010 – Garden murals

Exhibiting at the Battersea Decorative fair for his 5th time Peter has been invited to decorate the walls for Robert Barley’s “Garden” themed Foyer. 

In 2007 a large painting commission for a 67 meter private Yacht took Peter to Pompeii and Crete to collect imagery. Since then Peter’s fascination with early Roman art has been difficult to shake off, Roman style themes have continued to resurface in his work.

For the Battersea Decorative fair foyer Peter has produced a number of Pompeii themed murals. The artworks include approximately 10 life size figures of antique statuary composed on individual 3 meter high by 1.5 meter wide canvas panels. The medium used is a combination of inkjet printing and paint on canvas. Pigment based inks are used for maximum resistance to UV light. All printing is done by the artist.Canvas panels can be purchased at the fair individually with prices ranging from £600 – £1,500

Postcards from the Côte d’Azur

I’ve just completed a new series of Trompe l’oeil transfer prints on wood. There are 8 different images in the series all based on old postcards of views from the south of France. The series is limited to 40 for each image, priced £225 – 275 each.

Requirements: Victoria Hart the then 17 year old singing waitress from the Naked Turtle in London got her big break by singing for George Clooney and Co. on a Yacht in Cannes for the film festival. The website needed to showcase her career and her music. Aimed at music industry execs and Victoria’s growing fan base. Lots of Audio, lots of Video and pictures.

Our Solution: With the explosive start to her career we soon discovered that the website content would change rapidly to accommodate young Victoria’s busy schedule. A fully dynamic solution was needed. The site is split into different areas for photos, video, audio, news and live events. Each area has its own back end, giving the client access for quick updates.

Requirements: Harry Bliss is a cartoonist and cover artist for The New Yorker magazine, he illustrates book covers and entire childrens books. He needed a site to showcase his work, sell signed copies of his cartoons and inform his ever growing public of book releases, lecture talks etc.

Our Solution: The portfolio of cartoons and books required a minimal yet fairly slick presentation, we chose flash to do this, utilising its animated interface, aiming this part of the site primarily toward broadband users. The news section was built using a weblog (blog) mechanism – Harry can edit this also. The store is a full featured ecommerce soloution built with open source software. I designed all the web graphics with the exception of Harry’s wonderful artwork.

Due to clean validated code, Harry’s Store currently has a very respectable Google page rank of 5

Painting project update

The Yacht project kept me busy for several months, I went to Holland in May to deliver the pictures to the yacht, quite something! stayed a couple of days, had the run of my own mega yacht (briefly, it was still being fitted out)

The pictures seemed to be a success as they asked me to paint 8 more…

I have to get on with those now, will try and post some pictures soon…
