Fountain Basin, attributed to Karl Lagerfeld, sepia toned photograph, framed by Paris American Art, 1998 2

Sepia-toned photograph attributed to Karl Lagerfeld (1933–2019): a close study of the rim of an old stone fountain basin, the lichen-streaked fluted stone running with water that spills over the lip in bright droplets, the still surface above broken by rippling reflections of the surrounding facades. Rich warm blacks and sparkling highlights. Framed by Paris American Art, 2 rue Bonaparte, Paris, their label dated June 1998 is on the reverse. Other photographs from the same collection, including signed examples by Lagerfeld, are framed identically by this firm. Silvered wood frame with white mount. France, 1998.
