Large abstract ceramic wall plaque by Marcello Fantoni (1915–2011), made in his Florence studio. Fantoni trained as a sculptor as much as a potter, and the relief panels show it most directly: the composition is built in the clay itself, with glaze and surface carrying it across the panel rather than decoration applied to a flat ground. A substantial wall piece at 40 × 58 cm, and a format that appears far less often than his vessels. Acquired directly from the Fantoni family in Florence.
