A pair of French Restauration candlesticks in finely chased gilt bronze, now mounted as table lamps. The tapering stems alternate bands of chased rosette diaper and spiral hatching, divided by burnished fillets. They rise from a trellis-and-flowerhead collar and a calyx of stiff leaves. The circular feet are cast with a radiating leaf frieze. A spherical knop set with raised rosettes carries the rope-twist nozzle. The matt and burnished gilding play against each other throughout.
The candlesticks are converted to electricity, drilled at the base, and wired with twisted fabric flex. The pleated shades are later. There is light rubbing to the gilding at the base rims and high points, consistent with age.
Each: overall with shade 56 cm high × 26 cm diameter; candlestick 31 cm high × 14 cm diameter.
