Tall textured red and cream bottle vase by Marcello Fantoni, Florence

Tall, slender bottle vase by Marcello Fantoni (1915–2011), made in his Florence studio. The surface is textured rather than smooth, worked in red and cream, so the colour breaks and gathers across the relief of the body. A narrow, upright form at 34 cm that holds a shelf or mantel on its own or stands well in a group. The base carries a painted number, 78, which may be a studio or workshop mark rather than a date. Acquired directly from the Fantoni family in Florence. 34 cm high × 10 cm diameter.
