Very elegant and stylish desk or console table made by Maison Charles. A unique production, the only one of this configuration produced by Charles in Paris, France.
Long tapering silvered and chased cast bronze “Pieds Palm” legs support a thick glass top with applied silver leaf to the underside.
Truly a one-off rare and collectable piece.
French Restauration period freestanding Bureau plat in flame mahogany raised on solid mahogany lion monopodia feet. With original morocco tan leather gilt tooled hide.

Provenance: Commanderie de la Bargemone, Southern France.
The panelling on the desk is attributed to Dr Christopher Dresser or perhaps Louis Comfort Tiffany’s designer, Charles Osbourne.
Dr Christopher Dresser is known to have produced designs for Lincrusta Walton. Frederick Walton exhibited Lincrusta Walton for the first time at the 1878 Paris Exhibition.
Good quality library table with a rounded rectangular top inset with replaced green leather, the frieze fitted with three drawers to each side, on ring-turned tapering legs with brass caps and castors.
