A unique collection of Jim Dine artwork and ephemera

The index of our unique collection saved from the bins of Jim Dine’s vacated Chester Square studio in 1971 at the request of Princess Sylvia Guirey (née Obolensky/Astor) the artist’s London landlady, this collection was stored and forgotten until 2012. The collection is for sale as a whole

  1. Portfolio case with chalk sketches & scribbles to the exterior and interior – some writing in Dine’s hand
  2. Paint trowel with traces of paint on the blade & handle – multiple colours
  3. Broken heart print block on perspex with wooden handle
  4. Handgun print block – Rubber mounted on wood (made for Leonard Cohen poster 1968)
  5. Broken heart print block on plywood
  6. Jim Dine: Recent Paintings and Drawings, Robert Fraser Gallery – offset lithograph poster, signed by Jim Dine and numbered 15/100
  7. The United States Pavilion Expo’67 – catalogue (Including “American Painting Now”, an exhibit of 23 huge paintings by well-known artists of the 1960s, commissioned for the pavilion by head curator Alan Solomon. The list of artists read like a Who’s Who of modern art, and included James Rosenquist, Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, Jaspter Johns, Jim Dine, Ellsworth Kelly, Barnett Newman, Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein.)
  8. Car Crash Blues – typed and hand written poem by Adrian Henri dedicated to Jim Dine (Adrian Henri was a British poet and painter best remembered as the founder of poetry-rock group the Liverpool Scene.)
