[Verve (Vol VIII, Nos. 33-34] 30 lithographs, including the cover (18 in color). Text in French by Jean Wahl and Meyer Schapiro. No dust jacket. some damage to the spine but lithographs in good condition. The American edition was called “Illustrations for the Bible”.This volume co-published by A.W. Bruna & Zoon, Ultrich.
A double issue of VERVE devoted to the complete reproduction in heliogravure of the 105 plates etched by Marc CHAGALL, between 1930 and 1955, for the illustration of the Bible.
The artist specially composed for this work 16 color lithographs and 12 black and white lithographs, as well as the cover and the title page.
This volume was printed on September 10, 1956, by the Master Printers DRAEGER Frères for the rotogravure and by MOURLOT Frères for the lithography.
