Raoul Guys
Raoul Guys – An elusive mid century French designer and gallerist, not much is publically available about this stylish Parisian enigmatic figure. Much European steel and wicker furniture from the mid 20th century is attributed to Guys, the pieces were likely made by Guys’ friend Mathieu Matégot. Raoul Guys is often confused with Mathieu Matégot. What is clear, Matégot & Guys knew one another, Guys had galleries in Paris and Marseille, he showed Matégot’s tapestry work in exhibitions alongside other well known tapisiers including J. Lurçat, Picart-le-Doux & Vogenski.
